I don’t know where I would be without music. I play when I’m happy. I play to be happy. I play when I’m sad, and I play when I’m mad. My guitar is my security blanket and my best friend. It’s the best way for me to express myself. My life has allowed me to pass this joy on to others through my own music, and especially through my lessons. I know kids who have stopped hitting other kids once they sat down behind a drum set. I know students who have stopped playing hours of video games, to play their guitar. I have also seen self-esteem soar through the personal joy and sense of accomplishment achieved through music. Music is my life and I still thank my parents for getting me my first guitar in 3rd grade. The greatest thing I can do is give this gift to others.
People underestimate the power of music.
